Recording vocals is an art in itself. A great lead vocal alone can make the difference between a ho hum demo and a really stand out major song.
Getting a good vocal performance is largely to do with creating an environment where the singer feels comfortable. This can involve deciding where they stand, which way they're facing, room temperature, lights - whatever it takes to get the singer in the mood.
We can record lead vocals, either on RADAR, our pro level Hard Disk Recorder, or into Pro Tools - the producer's choice for mixing and editing. We have a choice of microphones and pre-amps which allow us flexibility, both to get the best vocal sound and also to get the "right" mix in your headphones, enabling you to give a truly stunning singing performance.
Mics we will typically use for voice recordings include
- Neumann U87
- DPA 4006
- AKG 414
- Neumann KMS105
- Audix SCX 25
